Rubio WoodCream Softener is used in combination with Rubio Monocoat WoodCream to give extra workability and treatment options for this product. It can be used to dilute the colour intensity, thus allowing more transparency or aged effect, or to reduce product build up when applying a maintenance coat.
Suitable: for adding to Rubio WoodCream to create a more aged effect or to allow more workability on rough sawn timber.
Appearance: clear liquid that dilutes the colour strength of Rubio WoodCream.
Odour: nil
VOC: zero
Durability: when mixed with Rubio WoodCream it reduces the UV resistance of the product. Hence expect more greying if exposed to full sun. This effect is proportional to the amount of softener added. It is recommended that no more than 1 part Softener to 1 part Woodcream is used.
Application : stir into Rubio WoodCream just before applying. Follow application procedure for
Rubio WoodCream. The softener also makes the WoodCream easier to spread in case of high temperatures, or rough sawn or very absorbent surfaces. In these cases a second coat can be used to get a more covering effect.
Maintenance: The softener is also useful when applying a maintenance coat of WoodCream. In this case 1 part Softener to 9 parts WoodCream allows for less product buildup, but up to 1 part Softener to 1 part WoodCream can be used.
Generally a maintenance coat of WoodCream plus Softener is applied every 5 - 10 years, depending on weather conditions. In very harsh exposure it can be every 3 years.
