ZINSSER Smart Prime is a new generation low VOC, water based primer that adheres well to many difficult surfaces and blocks all stains. A great specialty primer to have on hand.
Suitable: as a specialty primer to give good adhesion on glossy dense surfaces, such as enamel paints (both oil based and water based), plastics, vinyl, laminate, fibreglass, aluminium trim and ceramic tiles. Also for blocking stains from water, smoke, resin bleed, grease and crayon. Also inhibits rust and mould.
Appearance: is matt
Colours: white, but can be tinted to light colours as a base for coloured topcoats. No more than 15ml of tint/L is possible whilst still retaining its properties. Specify the colour of your topcoat and we will tint to a base colour to suit this - usually about half strength of your topcoat colour.
Odour: is nil
VOC: is zero
Durability: is excellent. Good longevity for indoor and outdoor situations.
Vapour Permeability: is good. Allows the substrate to breathe.
Application: is by roller, brush or spray gun as for conventional paint.
Drying: is 48 hours for max adhesion and cure. Can be top-coated after 2 hrs but allow seven days to fully cure before testing adhesion.
Coverage: is 10 sq.m/L depending on the porosity of the surface.
Coats: is usually one coat but some stains may need two coats to cover.
