LIVOS Alis Decking Oil is a superb natural oil finish for exterior timber trim, decks and furniture. An easy to maintain penetrating oil that wont ever chip or peel.
Suitable: for smoothly finished exterior timber windows, doors, panelling, decking and furniture.
Appearance: an attractive natural looking finish, which comes in a range of lightly tinted colours giving UV protection. Has a satin sheen initially which dulls to a softer natural look in full sun conditions.
Colours: Colours are 4 light timber colours - Boxwood, Oak, Teak and Chestnut, plus two stronger colours - Black and Slate Grey. View Colour Chart or purchase sample pots to trial colours on your timber. Chestnut is ideal on Merbau, Teak on Jarrah, Boxwood where only a light honey tint is wanted, and Oak where you want a light tint but prefer to tone down any red shades. Black and Slate Grey are more solid colours.
Odour: is a slight linseed smell which dissipates after a day.
Durability: is good. Expect 12 month in full horizontal exposure before a maintenance coat is required and 2- 3 years in semi protected areas. This is a penetrating product so never requires stripping or sanding. Simply clean and apply another coat.
Vapour Permeability: is excellent. This natural oil nourishes the timber but allows it to breath naturally.
Preparation: the timber must be clean, dry and absorbent so the oil can penetrate. LIVOS Glouros Cleaner can be used to clean any greying, mould or algae build up on old decks. New oily hardwoods may give best results by cleaning first with RUBIO MONOCOAT Exterior Wood Cleaner - a slightly stronger cleaner that removes some of the natural oils and tannins. Rinse well and allow to dry for 24 hrs.
Application: stir the product well and apply 2 - 3 thin coats with a decking applicator, brush or roller, in good drying weather. Allow 18 - 24 hours drying between coats. See full Application on decks instructions and Application on furniture instructions.
Maintenance : very easy to maintain. Horizontal surfaces such as decks in full exposure will require the most maintenance. Typically needing a top up maintenance coat annually. This is simply a matter of re-applying a coat of the oil to a clean deck.
Other areas such as vertical panels or those not in full exposure may last 2 - 4 years before requiring a refresh coat.
If the timber has started to grey or has stains, clean again with LIVOS Glouros Cleaner before applying the refresh coat of Alis Decking Oil.
The appearance and longevity of the finish on decks and furniture is enhanced by periodically cleaning with Trena pH Neutral Cleaner. This product nourishes and cleans the deck.
